Growing Pains

Little Boozle 2011

This week was a turning point for the household.
At least for me.

Little Boozle 2011

Our youngest declared herself "not a little girl anymore"
and the high chair was unceremoniously pitched outside,
suddenly redundant after 7 and 1/2 years and 3 children.

She has also had a month of dry nights
and so, as the last of the nappy stockpile disappears,
so do the visits down the supermarket aisle designated "baby".

Little Boozle 2011

Bittersweet.

The growth pains of parents.

Little Boozle 2011

Celebrating a child becoming her own independant being;
no longer dependent on us for feeding, getting dressed, pushing her around in a stroller.

Lamenting the loss of all that came before.;
no longer dependent on us for feeding, getting dressed, pushing her around in a stroller.

But I am keeping my real grief for the day that will surely come
when a mummy's hug is embarrassing,
a parent's kiss is NOT something to be seen in public,
when there are better options than spending time with parents.

It will surely come.

I am hearing you, the growing pains of parents! I got told 'no kisses' when I was saying goodnight to my girl this week (she's 8)...

Oh.... I know that sort of bittersweet.... (One week in, I'm still bursting into tears about my baby going off into the big bad world of school....tragic, I know).

Anyhoo - you whip up a pretty mean frock, Mrs Boozle!

It happens so fast doesn't it?
Lovely dress :)

My verification word is "fruck" - that's a little close for comfort!

I think with the youngest there is something even more poignant about moving out of each stage.

Your little girl is gorgeous.

I know that heartbreaking moment will come but I am already on the case of the hugging and kissing thing (in true Nazi style)...

"I don't CARE how embarrassed you are, you will ALWAYS hug your mother!"

Ahem. Well that's how I survived Grade 1 with mortified boy kid anyway.
