This is the pile of "to read" books on my bedside table.
Of course, it would be teetering even higher
but for a family rated blog,
I removed all my *cough* naughty books ;)
(yeah, 76 bodice rippers stacked up on the floor, people)

I have always been a book worm.
I have always loved books and loved reading them in abundance
But since starting a family,
I have struggled to prioritise reading.
I got a lot of books read while middle-of-the-night breast feeding
but beyond that, I have had limited access to quality reading time.
I am the first to admit that this is partially self-inflicted.
If I didn't spend time blogging, sewing and knitting,
I'd have heaps of reading time.
You know, going to bed early,
snuggling down into the doona
and being surprised at how quickly 2 hours can disappear
when you are in the middle of a great book.
That guilty pleasure of being able to stay up reading till 2am
because this book is so good, I have to finish it now!

But the fact is that there are only two times I can rely on having the time and inclination for a good solid read.
Firstly, on those rare occasions when I am bed-ridden with illness
(poorly enough that I don't want to knit
but not so ailing that I can't hold a book up)
Secondly, if I am "in the bathroom"
(if I lock the door from children-
who seem to need your undivided attention as soon as you pull your undies down)
Now, I know that I have just alienated half my blog readers with that statement.
You are either a "read on the loo" type of person or you aren't.
But I can multi-task so why waste the opportunity to use this skill?
At the moment, I am accumulating books faster than I am reading them.
I can't afford to cut back on the 5-6 hours sleep per night that I currently get
in order to knock off Oprah's latest recommendation.
And I need to wash and cook.
So maybe I should just cut back on my fibre
and increase my "bathroom" time...

Wow, that sure is a lot of books! I get precious little reading time these days and one of my pet hates is being constantly interrupted when trying to.
As far as reading in the err.. bathroom goes - there is always someone waiting for me at the door, if not pounding on it with little fists - once again - interrupted!!
Aah, to be so loved!
Happy reading.
I'm intrigued to know the titles of the ones that you removed for the photo ha ha!
That's a big stack of books girlfriend! Good luck with that :)
I've never read a bodice ripper. It's making me wonder if I'm missing out on something.
What naughty books????
And me too on the rest of it.
Mine follow me into the loo :( I read in bed at night on the ipad so I don't have to wake Pete with the light on, also saves having a huge stack of books cluttering up my already messy bed room.
I have some of those on my pile.
I've also always been a bookworm but now only get to read in bed which tends to be just be a chapter before my eyes give way xx
I've been thinking of blogging my unread-bedside-table-full, too... I haven't really read since I started knitting. Instead of reading the last few hours of the day away, I knit.
OMG that looks like my bedside table. I have such a huge stack of the weirdest combination of books. Even if I don't have the time to read them I still like looking at them!
Ha ha - I am a loo reader too!
I enjoyed a few of your titles, "The Elegance of the Hedgehog", "The Memory Keeper's Daughter" and the "Time Traveller's Wife" (much better than the movie, as usual!).
I desperately miss my thirty minute each way commute to work if only for the reading time, oh, and the peace and quiet I have to say!
My problem as well , too much sewing , crocheting and blogging of a night to read and not enough fibre , lol !
